April 2012—This profile provides an overview of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating in tourism industries in Canada and examines the differences between them and SMEs in non-tourism industries. Tourism activities play an important role in the Canadian economy, and small businesses account for close to 98% of enterprises in this sector. This research was conducted as part of the SME Financing Data Initiative, a comprehensive data collection program on SME financing in Canada.
